As a working mother who chooses to continue breastfeeding her baby, having a wearable breast pump is a necessity. The ability to pump hands-free and not having to deal with any sort of tubes or wires is practical. If you have been researching on wearable breast pumps lately, there is a chance that you might have stumbled upon the brand, Jevonbaby on Google or social media. Jevonbaby breast pumps were first sold in Singapore and has made their way to Malaysia. Sold exclusively via their website, the price for a Jevonbaby breast pump is RM499 and RM989 for two pumps. Having tested this product firsthand, here are my thoughts on the product.
User Experience
Design and Portability
When it comes to wearable breast pumps, the first thing most mothers would consider is their convenience and portability. The hands-free and cord-free design of Jevonbaby breast pump offers that. I was able to perform various tasks while pumping, a huge plus especially when I have a long list of things to get done.
At first glance, the pump has a sleek design and has a slim profile. It’s compact enough to fit inside my bra and does not bulge out as much as pumps with cup-like design.
One notable point is that the pump doesn’t fit as snugly into my bra compared to pumps with cup-like design as the bottle is fitted below the motor, so it bulges downwards. Having said that, I still find the breast pump very firm and easy to move around while wearing it. The sleek design of the pump makes wearing it comfortable.
Assembly and Cleaning
The Jevonbaby breast pump is simple to assemble, with only a few parts to put together. This simplicity also extends to cleaning. Once you get the hang of it, the process becomes a breeze.
I would note that the initial assembly might be a bit confusing for first-time Jevonbaby users. The pump comes with a 28mm breast shield and several optional components, such as nipple funnel inserts of different sizes (13mm, 15mm, 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, 24mm), but it’s not immediately clear which of these parts are necessary and which are optional. After meddling around, I found out that you can use either the nipple funnel or the silicone flange and not both. Having said that, it is very convenient for mothers to find the perfect fit and try out new sizes without having to buy parts separately as the box comes with everything you will need! In contrast, other breast pumps in the market may offer limited size options, and not all of them are provided for free.
Convenience and Hygiene
One of Jevonbaby breast pump’s unique selling features is that mothers can choose to pump directly into a milk bottle or storage bag, a feature not commonly found in other breast pumps. This unique feature reduces the need to transfer from one milk storage to another and as a result, improves hygiene and convenience as well as minimizes wastage.
One thing to take note of is the pump comes with only one teat which is compatible with the milk bottle, which may not be suitable for all babies (as there are different teat sizes to be used depending on your baby’s age).
Performance
Suction Strength
One of the common complaints about wearable breast pumps is a lack of sufficient suction strength. The Jevonbaby breast pump performs well in this regard. The suction strength is adequate and efficient based on my personal experience using it.
Leak-Proof and Noise
Unlike some other pumps on the market, I was happy that I did not experience any leakage issue throughout the time I was using Jevonbaby.
Additionally, the pump operates rather quietly, which makes it ideal in times when I need to pump in public places or at work.
Modes and Memory Feature
The Jevonbaby breast pump offers up to nine suction levels and three modes: massage, expression and stimulation. The stimulation mode combines the features of the massage and expression modes to enhance the pumping experience.
To discover the optimal suction level for each mode, simply increase the suction level where you can feel the pressure, but it is still comfortable. Personally, level 5 works for me.
One area that I feel could be improved is the pump’s memory feature. While the pump remembers the last chosen suction level for each mode, it doesn’t recall the last selected mode. You would therefore need to cycle through the modes each time you use the pump.
After Sales
The Jevonbaby breast pump comes with a 12-month warranty and 1:1 replacement. The warranty can start from the date of purchase or the baby’s date of birth, whichever comes later. This flexible warranty policy is a plus point for Jevonbaby since most other brands only offer a warranty based on the date of purchase.
Verdict
The Jevonbaby breast pump is a nice to have for busy mothers who need a convenient and efficient way to pump milk. The pump’s performance and flexible warranty terms add a layer of peace of mind for mothers. If your priorities are quality and convenience over budget, then Jevonbaby might be an ideal choice for you.
